Canadian Comics

Thanks to my friend Sean, I have just recently discovered a National Archives link for Canadian comic books (particularly of the superhero variety). I was surprised to find out about the rich history of comic books in Canada and the influence of Canadians and Canadian ex-patriots on the comic book industry. This site is definitely worth looking at:

Remember, after all, Joe Shuster, the co-creator of Superman, was a Canadian. You can check out the Canadian Heritage Minute about this at:  https://www.historica-dominion.ca/content/heritage-minutes/superman?media_type=41&media_category=

  1. Comics were my preferred fiction “hit” in childhood. Particularly things like the X-Men, Avengers, Spiderman and others that were just a little soap-operatic at the same time. 🙂

  2. I agree. It would look forward to going to the corner store to pick up comics each month and always found that I identified with characters like the X-men because of their outsider status.
