The Mayan calendar was written to include everything up until December 2012. 
There is a widespread discussion about whether this means that our world will end on December 21, 2012.
Of course, while holiday depression is setting in on people and the wild extremes of capitalism are raging as people seek to buy their way to happiness… I thought it would be a good time for an Apocalyptic narrative.
This month, stay tuned for some exciting recommendations of apocalyptic reads for the maybe-not-arriving New Year and some discussions of apocalyptic themes.

It will be interesting to see what suggestions you have. I am a total skeptic. I figure, there have been so many apocalyptic predictions over the centuries and we’re still here. Besides that, I have much more time I want to spend with my grandson, so the world can’t end, yet. 🙂
I am also a total sceptic. The world can’t end yet because there are so many books that we have to read!! 🙂
I don’t believe that the Mayans deciding a few thousand years was enough calendar to work with before their got civilization wiped out is any reason to think the world is going to end.
If they were still around they would have updated it by the twentieth century.
